On Sunday 28th May 2017 Lions Bahari club members led by President, Linda Shuma and the Convener of Service Activities Lion Kamaljeet Kaur visited Swabur Orphanage, in Kisauni near Mtopanga, which was started in 2005, and is home to a total of 87 children from ages 3 to 18. The children are either orphans, victims of tribal clashes in Tana River, or from very poor families identified by individuals or sent by government children’s department.
During the visit the members donated foodstuff comprising maize meal, rice, wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, vegetables, salt and mineral water. The children were full of smiles as they were sure of meals for another one month as the home operates from hand to mouth.
The Lions club of Mombasa Bahari was a blessing to them especially after their home was hard hit by floods from the May long rains. It was in this spirit that the children showered the club with duas.
All in all the activity took a worthy one and an hour of satisfaction for the members.
