REPORT OF A VISIT TO Mr. ABDALLA AHMED – A DOUBLE AMPUTEE
On Saturday 15th August 2020, Lion Joseph and Lion Mary visited Mr. Abdalla Ahmed, a 34 year old amputee at Marahaba, Bakarani in Kisauni Sub-County.
History:
Abdalla worked as a turn boy for a truck driver. In 2013 the truck he was working with was involved in an accident at Gilgil and he suffered serious injuries to both of his legs. He was taken to St. Mary’s hospital in Gilgil for treatment. Unfortunately, both legs were amputated and rendered him jobless.
He is a family man with a wife and three children, the youngest child being 4 years old. As he had to fend for his young family, he learned barber skills from his cousin who assisted him with one of his shaving machines. He was also assisted by a neighbor with a place and iron sheets to build a small shelter to carry out his barber trade.
Lion Joseph & Lion Mary visited Abdalla to assess his physical condition and how needy he was. He had been referred by a friend to Lion Joseph.
Lion Joseph assessed Abdalla as per his profession and prepared the following report:
- Abdalla’s stumps are conical and the muscle power is all perfect. Power 5.
- The range of motion is normal
- He has no other underlying condition, he is healthy.
- The stumps are ready for measurements
Treatment Plan:
- Measurements taking
- Trial fitting after 2 weeks
- Gait training
- Delivery
The cost will be Kshs.140,000/- for both prosthetic legs and will be fabricated.
Kindly urgently consider Abdalla in order to assist him to be able to walk and continue to carry out his barber trade more effectively.
