Without water, the earth and its people would cease to exist. In all likelihood, most people who are currently reading this take this for granted without even realising. However we realised and visited Barani Village in Kikambala area on Saturday 1st June 2019 to handover our 20th borehole and 5th for this Lionistic year.
The borehole was sunk near the mosque and this was our first electric powered borehole. This was done as the mosque had electricity. The contractor also fitted five taps against the mosque wall so that the people can cleanse themselves before prayers.
As we arrived at the venue we were greeted by the village people and after recitation of verses from the holy Koran the elder welcomed us and said that they are very grateful to our club for sinking a borehole in their village. He said that this borehole will serve around 4000 people. He said that this is the best Ramadhan gift.
Our Club’s Project Convenor, Lion Shoeb Ganiwalla said that this borehole has been very kindly donated by Q.A.K. of Seattle, WA, USA and we are very thankful to them. May Allah bless them. He said that this borehole is free for all and there should not be any cast or creed. Nobody is allowed to collect water for sale.
After handing over the borehole, we distributed ‘Iftar’ packets consisting of juice, biscuits and sweets to the children and maize-meal and ‘Naan’ (round bread) to the women and men. We also gave some Korans and disposable glasses to the mosque. This was part of our Service Activity.
We say a big thank you to our sponsors, Q.A.K. May Allah bless you and your family.
