The Club organized an essay writing competition on 26th January 2019 at Jaffery Academy. Invitations were sent out to 18 schools both private and public schools on 14th January 2019. The following 12 schools participated in the event.

4. Oshwal Academy
5. Bhadala Primary
6. Arya Primary
7. Sheikh Khalifa
8. Coast Academy
9. Aga Khan High
10. Fort Jesus Academy
11. Ganjoni Primary
12. Mombasa Academy.
77 students participated in this competition under the following categories:
Group A for 11 to 13 years
Group B for 14 to 16 years
Group C for the 17 years and above.
Each group was given a choice of four topics to choose from and write an essay. The topics were handed out to the students just before the competition began.
The competition began at 9.05am and students from Group A and B were given an hour to write their essay while Group C were given 1 ½ hours.
After the competition all the students present were treated to a cold drink and a packet of crisps kindly donated by well wishers and packets of peanuts by Jaffery Academy.
Certificate of participation were presented to the students. Essays have been given to Mr. Namunyu of MSB, Mr Eric Mutei of Oshwal Academy, Ms Nicholls a retired teacher of Aga Khan High School for marking. Once the essays are marked by the teachers, the winners will receive a token as follows from each group:
1st Prize – Ksh. 2000/=
2nd Prize – Ksh. 1500/=
3rd Prize – Ksh. 1000/=
The judges will be given an appreciation letter and token of Ksh. 2000/- each.
The activity was held from 8.10 am to 11.00 am.
Lions Tasneem Pirbhai, Lion Shoeb , Lion Akil Haji and Lion Kamaljee and Lion Maria helped the Convenor to make sure the activity was well organized. Thank you, Lion Rashida Pirbhai for writing the certificates for participation for the students. Appreciation letter was sent to Jaffery Academy through email on 28th January 2019.
