Lions Club Mombasa Bahari on Saturday 5th September joined other clubs worldwide to participate in the special event “Children’s Dignity Week” which ran from Aug 30 – Sept 5.
The club held a service activity for children at the Bamburi Village for the Blind where neighbors’ children joined them. Its time to be back to school so the club assisted the children with their basic needs: exercise books, pens, pencils & erasers. They were also given biscuits, cakes, sweets & toys. The Lions also gave the children basic tips on hygiene to keep teeth healthy by brushing them. To promote their dignity each child was given a toothbrush and toothpaste. After the activity the children were served with lunch, juice & a cake each.
A total of 35 children were present and 11 guardians. Jubilation filled the air as the children sung songs of praise. Total cost of activity was Kshs 12,000/.
