We visited Onesimus Goodnews Boys Centre on Sunday 17th January 2021, to celebrate the 142nd birthday of Lions Clubs founder Melvin Jones.
Onesimus Goodnews Boys Centre is a home for the rehabilitation of street boys and other destitute boys. Presently it has 33 boys & 2 social workers. The boys attend school. One is at Chuka University and another in an ICT college.
The club donated foodstuff and detergent worth Kshs.15,000/- and a personal donation of foodstuff worth Kshs.5876/- by Lion Simone Amati, President of Lions Club Sesto Fiorentino, Italy. Foodstuff included maize flour, rice, beans, milk, sugar, wheat flour, milk, salt, tea leaves, and detergent. Also donated were assorted sweets by our President Lion Adnaan & Lion Muzaffer.
The boys really appreciated our gesture as the foodstuff would last them for more than a month.
