Lions Club Mombasa Bahari was privileged to be the first club from Zone 7 to be visited by the District Governor, Lion Varish Sheikh, this lionistic year 2012-2013.
On Saturday 29th Sept 2012, the Lions carried out a service activity at Alms House in Makande popularly known as Nyumba ya Wazee . The place is home to 32 residents. 25 elderly men, 5 elderly women & 7 youths. In a fact finding visit to the home it was determined that the home was in need of basic essentials apart from the renovations of the buildings. Lions Club Mombasa Bahari turned out in good numbers and in their usual zeal wearing their yellow/purple service jackets participated in giving out the donated items:
A pair of bed sheet, towel, plate, spoon & mug to each of the residents. Foodstuff i.e. rice, cooking oil, pojo, dengu, sugar, maize meal, detergent & bathing soap, biscuits & milk. The members were joined by The District Governor who graced the occasion accompanied by the Cabinet Secretary Lion Tejinder Sagoo, Zone Chairperson Zone 1, Lion Govindbhai Shah, & Club Secretary Lions Club Nairobi Westlands.
The wazees were very happy as smiles of joy could be seen on their faces.
